Come see us during the 2025 season! … We will open our restored Western Maryland Railway Station Visitors’ Center and Museum on April 1st! We will be here to greet you from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily – with the exception of Easter Sunday – from April 1st to October 26th, 2025. We look forward to seeing you here!

Meyersdale Turns 150! … The Borough of Meyersdale marked its Sesquicentennial Anniversary in 2024. Officially organized as “Meyersdale” on February 19th, 1874, community leaders and residents commemorated our community’s history. Karen Oakes looking forward to her fifth season as station manager … Karen Oakes will serve as manager of our restored railway station for her fifth season in 2025. Virginia May and Anna Stewart will again join her as a station attendants. We are fortunate to have such a dedicated staff on hand to welcome our guests!

CASH was top prize in 2024 Fundraising Raffle! … We raffled off a top prize of $1,150 in CASH on October 27th, 2024, as part of our annual fundraising raffle, with Mack Beal of Meyersdale being the winner. In addition, we gave away lodging prizes at each of these fabulous Meyersdale establishments: Levi Deal Mansion, Yoder’s Guest House, The Red Lantern B&B, and the Inn on Main B&B.

Halloween at the Station! … We again greeted trick-or-treaters of all ages during our community’s annual Halloween celebration in October. A large number of families enjoyed visiting the station to see our museum displays and pick up some goodies. Historical society board members and friends were on hand to greet them.

Our station closed for the season on Sunday, October 27th.

Special Display Honoring Harry Beal … Thanks to Harry’s family, throughout 2024 we displayed wonderful photographs and pieces of memorabilia belonging to the late Harry Milton Beal, Meyersdale native and our nation’s first Navy SEAL. We also showcased a special display devoted to our Borough of Meyersdale’s Sesquicentennial anniversary!

Big Savage Tunnel Closed for the Winter … The doors of the Big Savage Tunnel were closed for the winter on November 27th, 2024.

The 78th annual Pennsylvania Maple Festival will be celebrated April 5th and 6th and 9th through 13th, 2025.

We Were Featured On Television! … The Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCNTV) featured our restored Western Maryland Railway Station Visitors’ Center and Museum on the network’s “It’s History!” program in September 2021. Thank you, PCNTV crew members, for putting together such a fabulous segment!

Meyersdale’s annual Fourth of July celebration … Each year our community marks the Fourth of July with a special day of activities capped off by a memorable fireworks display.
